Banjul, as well known as "The City of Light" is the capital of The Gambia. The ARCH 22 on the Independence Drive is a commemorative arch. It was built in 1996 to mark the military coup d’état of July 22, 1994. It is the landmark of the City and The Gambia. With a height of 35 metres, this arch of triumph provides an impressive panorama of Banjul.
